In 1996 I had a medical examination for a new job. The Doctor mentioned my stooped posture and I told him I had recently started Alexander Technique lessons to address it.
"Don’t waste your time," he said. "You can’t cure that, it’s a permanent physiological condition, not treatable by any exercise."
17 years later, it is nearly gone, thanks to the work I have done with Giorgia over that time. Initially I found Alexander Technique difficult to integrate and so we worked with movement shiatsu to help me along. Giorgia’s strong emphasis of verbal direction and dynamic physical orientation was vital as we progressed to a combination of Alexander technique with movement shiatsu which is what I do now.
Not only can I report a great improvement in posture, but I feel better in myself and, thanks to the movement shiatsu, I can do things physically now that I couldn’t manage in my 20s.
Moreover, I feel that I have a hugely better understanding of how my body works and how to do things thoughtfully and with more grace. I’m dismayed when I hear friends talk about how they find things more difficult to do now, or see them struggling with simple physical movements.

I’m looking forward to being able to do more, not less in order to become stronger and flexible, as I learn and practise with Giorgia.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011 and spent a year going through treatment. It has been 6 months since I have finished the treatments, which included two major surgeries. This left me physically exhausted and a with a slouched posture, my long term shoulder and back pain deteriorating from bad to worse.
I attended Giorgia’s 5 weeks Alexander Technique course. It has been very difficult because it required engaging the physical balance in a new way and my body was not used to it. However, the effects were noticeable and beneficial from the beginning.
After the second session, I immediately noticed that I was feeling better. I’m also taking Tamoxifen and that has influenced my personality badly with an additional 15kg more of weight, however after the lessons I would feel lighter and less tense and with more energy and a more positive outlook for my future.

I since decided that one to one lessons were the best course of action I could have taken in order to start the healing process from within.

Attending group work was very beneficial as everyone was sharing their insight - it was very supportive. It was an incredible experience for me as I relearned the importance of breathing and how it relates to release of tension once we focus on it.
It has helped me enormously with my sleeping problems and with coping with severe difficulties during this present time.

I have had Distonia for the last 30 years. As it is a disease that badly affects my sense of balance, I found that having lesson in the Alexander Technique has greatly helped in keeping me mobile.
My difficulties of coping with the effect of this illness have lessened and I feel that through the principle of direction and inhibition as taught by Giorgia I have gained physical strength and courage to continue working on myself, however degenerative my disease might be.

What a fantastic tool I have gained, I'm forever grateful.

I first met Giorgina a few years ago at a class she was running as an evening class for about ten people. At the time I was recovering from a sciatica caused by a slipped disk. Shortly after attending the course I attended an Open University Art History degree course that involved long periods standing still and concentrating on paintings in galleries and churches, some of which were freezing cold. I was just about the only person on the course able to do this without pain or fatigue because I was able to apply the good instruction in the Alexander Technique that Giorgina had given me.

Some years later I am once again being helped by Giorgina's skill as I recover from a soft tissue back injury. Today I walked home from my third session with her totally without pain. The distance is about two miles and I would have experienced great pain without Giorgina's work with me. Walking was a pleasure instead of the agony it has been since the injury.

I genuinely feel that in the six or so lessons where I learnt about the methods of the Alexander Technique, that there has been a drastic improvement in my posture and also my general well being.

I feel grounded but also impressively light. My back is straight, and often appears impressively so, but not in an uncomfortable, tense way.

I'm smilier and happier, and I feel comfortable wearing clothes that are colourful.

I noticed almost immediate changes when I began to visit Giorgia for Shiatsu massage.

My posture felt different and improved and I started to feel generally more relaxed in both mind and body.
Having recently moved into the area I consider myself very lucky to have found such an excellent practitioner.

It's my opinion that everybody could enjoy and get something different from a session with Giorgia and I would find it hard to believe that anyone wouldn't benefit in some way.

Adored my recent experience on Alexander course - so much so I've signed up to do it again. Utterly revelatory in so many ways - the 5 sessions managed to combine the practical (mainly) with the theoretical and to just open my eyes to some ideas that might change my life - they have already made me more mindful and self-aware.
Giorgia's example and her amazing hands-on work were just terrific and I would recommend this course to anyone concerned about an inability to relax, a general worry about posture, stress or who simply looks for a different way of looking at themselves and the world.

I have recently had my first few sessions of shiatsu massage with Giorgina. It has been a very positive experience and the Alexander technique, that Giorgina practices, has helped me connect my mind with my body.
I chose shiatsu as a complementary therapy to help positively get me through my cancer treatment.
We begin each session by talking about my progress so that if I have any areas of concern we can focus on these as Giorgina guides me through the massage.
I have found that the shiatsu sessions have taught me how to connect with my body through relaxation and massage.
Areas of applied pressure relaxes me from my head through to my hips, my knees and ankles. I get a sensation of heaviness throughout followed by near weightlessness. As the session concludes and I prepare to leave my body feels like it tingles and is positively revitalised.
I thoroughly recommend shiatsu for anyone going through tough physical and mental times in their life.

Dear Giorgina, I want to say a big thank you for my shiatsu massages, which I have found a tremendous help in both my mental and physical wellbeing.
Also, last week I attended a full day Alexander technique workshop. Having tried this technique before with two different teachers I have to admit that I was pretty sceptical about the whole thing. I just didn't get it.
However with you taking the class I noticed several positive changes in me and started to understand what it is all about. You are a truly inspirational teacher and I thank you so very much. I will definitely be coming back for more!

The moment I let myself go completely into Giorgia’s hands, I realize I can finally feel my body and its needs.
I totally tune up with my whole-self and... breath!
Any anxiety, worry or pain is gently melting away, while my focus and attention shifts to the energetic movement within my body, allowing the mind to reset and become more and more peaceful and quiet.
Only sensations, colours (lots of them!), warmth and coolness; any tension or stiffness is finally releasing; chakras seem to feel more balanced and blocked channels are free and open!

I go deeper and deeper in myself… and smile!
